Jiggered Provide Candy at Lochgreen for Nadia and Andy

Jiggered Provide Candy at Lochgreen for Nadia and Andy

Jiggered Ceilidh Band were privileged to play at Nadia and Andy's wedding at Lochgreen House Hotel (Troon) last night. Nadia is a a good freind of Chris', having worked together for a few years. The wedding was lovely and the evening culminated in a ceilidh, provided by the busiest band in Scotland over the next two days (we've got TWO more ceilidhs for Hogmanay...watch this space).

Nadia and Andy had requested Paolo Nutini's "Candy" for their first dance and we did this for them- it was such a hit with the couple that we re-played it at the end of the night. It was a fun night for Jiggered- the crowd were lively and enthusiastic and it's always specal to play for someone you know. Andy and Nadia were delighted with the ceilidh- Andy commented that it "made the night", and Nadia said it was "just perfect". Mission accomplished!

Jiggered Ceilidh Band Play in Glenshee

Jiggered Ceilidh Band Play in Glenshee

It was off to the Spittal of Glenshee for Jiggered Ceilidh Band. The weather forecast was pretty grim and the travel conditions weren't ideal but we made it all the way up to the hotel. It was only in the car park that we had a minor mishap- Ewan pranged into the back of my car. D'oh!

The hotel looked after us really well- we enjoyed a lovely complementary meal and the ceilidhers were real keen. It was a great night.

Jiggered Brave Snow and Deer for Wedding at Crear

Jiggered Brave Snow and Deer for Wedding at Crear

The weather's been nasty with loads of snow and ice on the roads but Jiggered Ceilidh Band managed the 3 hour trip up to Crear last night for Malcolm and Alana's wedding. We had to stop a few times on the way for stray deer on the roads but the trip was a safe one! Unfortunately the weather had decimated the guest list for the wedding- just 28 or so made it...this was certainly one of the most intimate gigs we've ever done.

We had a great time and were well looked after by our clients and the Crear staff.

Jiggered Meet Fred MacAulay at the Science Centre

Jiggered Ceilidh Band were recently asked to play at the Glasgow Science Centre for Strathclyde Fire Brigade's Charity Ball. It was a brilliant event and we were really pleased to be part of it. Jiggered met Fred MacAulay who was hosting the event. And we were sponsored by Westsound Radio for the evening!

Jiggered Forced to Play as Three-Piece

Jiggered Forced to Play as Three-Piece

Jiggered Ceilidh Band were playing in for Paul's 21st in Walpole Hall, Edinburgh. Paul is brother-in-law to our good friend and occassional Jiggered drummer, Ben.

Unfortunately, we had to play pretty much as a three-piece. Jenny's caught some bug and spent the night running back and forward to the toilet to puke. The show had to go on though, and thankfully Paul still loved the 75% Jiggered experience!!

Jiggered Ceilidh at Crutherland again

Jiggered Ceilidh at Crutherland again

Last night it was back to Crutherland Hotel for Jiggered Ceilidh Band. We've played at this venue lots over the years but this was probably the shortest ceilidh we've done there. We were playing for a fundraising event for Teen Challenge, the excellent Christian charity that works to support those with addictions. The evening consisted of a meal, auction, performances from special guests...it was so jam-packed that we never got started till 11pm, instead of 9:30pm! Had a super night though, and lots of money was generated for Teen Challenge.

Jiggered Ceilidh Band treated to Milngavie Chippy

Jiggered Ceilidh Band treated to Milngavie Chippy

Last night, Jiggered Ceilidh Band were in Milngavie Town Hall for a joint ceilidh with a few of the local churches. We provided some ceilidh muic, there was a silent auction, fish suppers for everyone (including us!) at the break, and even a wee bit of worship music thrown in!

And a Jiggered "first" too- our client gave us £50 too much by mistake at the end of the night. Thankfully we noticed before leaving and were able to return the extra cash to the (relieved) clients!

Crowd Bowled over by Jiggered

Crowd Bowled over by Jiggered

Jiggered Ceilidh Band were ceilidhing last night at the Chryston and District Bowling Club. The stage had probably the most glittery backdrop we have played in front of!!

Incidentally, we're booked up for TWO gigs this Hogmanay so if you're looking for a band, I'm afraid we're fully booked.

Jiggered Ceilidh Band Travel to England Again

Jiggered Ceilidh Band were south of the border last night for a wedding. It was in the Tithe Barn, Carlisle. We had a great night and it helped that the clocks went back last night which effectively shaved an hour off our journey home!!

Congratulations to Beth and Barnes- wishing you all the best!

Jiggered Ceilidh Band Wedding at Seamill Hydro

Jiggered Ceilidh Band were back in action again. It was another wedding. It was at Seamill Hydro again (we've played so often there during 2010 that the manager asked for our business cards for recommending us!).

We wish Martin and Sarah all the best.

Did anyone else notice that just after breakfast this morning it was 10.10am on 10.10.10? Exciting times!

Jiggered Ceilidh Band in Edinburgh Again

Jiggered Ceilidh Band in Edinburgh Again

Jiggered Ceilidh Band were in another castle for a wedding. This time it was Dalhousie Castle, near Edinburgh. It's a spectacular old building and it was great to be there.

Lots of the wedding guests were hearing us for the first time and we got a great reaction to our sound. I took a video- it's a bit dark but you can check it out here.

See you soon.

Jiggered Ceilidh Band in Ayrshire

Jiggered Ceilidh Band in Ayrshire

Jiggered Ceilidh Band were invited to play at Townhead Church, Newmilns as part of their "Community Week". The church was busy with extra seats needing to be brought in as the crowds gathered.

We played our first set, and then enjoyed a burger and ice-cream before a short set to finish. It was fun being in Newmilns for the night and to have so many friends coming along for the ceilidh and barbecue!

Jiggered Ceilidh Band Wedding in Glasgow

Jiggered Ceilidh Band Wedding in Glasgow

Jiggered Ceilidh Band were playing again- this time at Lorne Hotel, Glasgow. It was friends of Ewan's who'd been married so we were playing with Andi drumming which allowed Ewan a rare chance to do some ceilidh dancing (actually, we met a large contingent of the "Ewan Cunningham Fan Club").

Two midweek ceilidhs coming up- should be good!

Jiggered Ceilidh Band Record Some Video Footage at Church Ceilidh

Jiggered Ceilidh Band were playing recently at Hilton Strathclyde Hotel. It was the first year anniversary ceilidh for Glasgow's Harvest Bible Chapel. We had a great night and as usual we went down at a storm at the church ceilidh.

Before the night started, we recorded some quick video footage of our sound check! We quickly recorded three songs: Gay Gordons, Virginia Reel and Red Red Rose. Please bear in mind that these are single takes, unedited and you'll even see me running in and out of shot to start and finish the video!!

Jiggered Ceilidh Band Are Really Busy

Jiggered Ceilidh Band Are Really Busy

Jiggered Ceilidh Band were back at Balbirnie House Hotel, Glenrothes for another wedding. There was a sense of familiarity in the air last night. We've played at this lovely venue on a number of occassions- maybe it was that? Or possibly it was the presence of at least 3 other couples whose weddings we'd played at- this crowd certainly are becoming a significant fan club!

Jiggered are pretty busy over the next few days...ceilidhs on Monday, Friday, Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday make it a real hectic 10 days! And we're getting loads of enquiries for the rest of the year and 2011 too!

Jiggered Ceilidh Band Wedding in Kilbirnie

Jiggered Ceilidh Band Wedding in Kilbirnie

Jiggered Ceilidh Band were this week playing for the first time at Moorpark House Hotel, Kilbirnie. This was our first visit here and it's a smashing venue- the house is really impressive looking from outside and there are some really cool rooms inside as well. We were doing yet another wedding and some guests recognised us from another wedding we'd performed at this summer- Jiggered are fast becoming THE choice for wedding ceilidhs across Scotland!

The bride and groom looked to have had a great day and really enjoyed the evening. It wasn't just Jiggered who were providing entertainment- some family and friends came up to sing well known classics and a song written especially for the occasion...Brilliant stuff.

Our good friend (and occassional guest drummer) Andi Watson was the wedding photographer and he was able to take some quick snaps of the band- watch this space....They'll appear on the website soon!

Jiggered Ceilidh Band play Wedding in Dundee

Jiggered Ceilidh Band play Wedding in Dundee

Jiggered Ceilidh Band arrived back home in the early hours of Sunday morning, after a trip up to Dundee for a wedding at Piperdam. The bride and groom currently live in Germany but had returned to his hometown to get hitched. They came across Jiggered's website and loved the look of the site and the sound samples too. High praise since the groom, Gavin Brady, is an accomplished professional pianist!

I'll readily admit I was a wee bit nervous about playing piano in front of someone of Gav's talent but I needn't have worried- the bride and groom were both instant fans of Jiggered and loved our sound. So even when Gavin and his friend took over the piano and violin for a brilliant duet it was all in true ceilidh spirit...appreciating good music even if our styles were quite different!

Jiggered Ceilidh Band- another wedding!

Jiggered Ceilidh Band- another wedding!

Jiggered Ceilidh Band were playing at the Piersland Hotel, Troon last night. Lawrie and Alaina were getting married- the service was in Stair Church and the meal and reception were at Piersland. Alaina's an old uni pal of Chris. So Chris and the Smith clan (Elaine, Daisy, Heidi and Logan) were all at the wedding and had a fab time! Alaina had recorded her own version of Jason Mraz' "I'm Yours" and this was played during the signing of the register. It was a really nice touch and Alaina's voice was beautiful!

Alaina and Lawrie had asked if we would do "You got the Love" (Florence and the Machine) for their first dance. This seemed like an unusual request but the song worked really well with Jenny singing and weirdly we were phoned the same night from another future client asking if we would manage to play the same song at their wedding!!

If you want to see our version of the song, it's here: Jiggered Ceilidh Band Play "You Got The Love"

Jiggered Ceilidh Band meet Mr Bean at Wedding!

Jiggered Ceilidh Band meet Mr Bean at Wedding!

Jiggered Ceilidh Band were back at Seamill Hydro for another wedding- this time it was the Phil and Kirsty (the brains behind 51Media: Web Design).

Some highlights from the evening:

-the best man and his sidekick provided a wee sketch for the bride and groom as "Mr Bean and Teddy" (the impression started off well but by the end it had drifted into a Father Ted accent!!)
-everyone enjoyed the really well cooked fish and chips during the break (yum)
-we were asked for more business cards last night than we have for ages!
