-meeting a kilted guest who was outraged that some others didn't know the etiquette of wearing flashes (ironic given the flashing etiquette he chose to ignore!)
-possibly the craziest woman we have ever come across at a ceilidh (yes, you in the blue dress)...it's been a long time since I've seen a girl hoist up her skirt and do the splits in the middle of a busy dance floor.
-getting to use some props for our photo-message to the bride and groom.
Congratulations to Sara and David from Jiggered.

Sherbrooke Castle was the venue for another gig for Jiggered Ceilidh Band last night. This time it was for a lovely couple called Ward and Cathie. Ward actually works in the same Maths Dept as Chris during the day....well, maybe "works" is the wrong word as he spends most of the time wandering the corridors sharing awful jokes, chatting about Dr Who, dishing out tablet (the sugary kind, not drug dealing), calculating how many school bells it is till the next holiday and performing his bizarre knack for memorising every Number 1 since records began.
It was a pleasure to play for the happy couple and we wish them all the best. It was also great to play in front of so many familiar faces!!

Jiggered Ceilidh Band have just finished a run of 5 ceilidhs in 8 days. It's been loads of fun.
Last night we were back at Pollokshields Burgh Hall where we've played a few times- the acoustics are lovely in the Hall and I took a wee video on my phone of Jenny and Susan playing Ae Fond Kiss. It isn't the best quality of recording but hear it live and you'll find it breath-taking, I promise you.
The wedding last night started with the bride and groom doing their first dance to a St Bernard's Watlz and they glided across the dance floor very elegantly...they must've practiced! The wedding guests were a lively bunch- full of energy, jumping across the floor, throwing each other about and spinning around wildly! Brilliant fun!

I honestly don't know where to begin with last night's gig. It will last long in the memory for a number of reasons...
Jiggered Ceilidh Band were back at St Andrew's in The Square for the second time in a week, this time for a charity event in aid of breast cancer. The first half was a bit slow, but once the buffet had been served and alcohol kicked in the ceilidh got into full swing!
During our break we nipped round to a local chippy that we've been to a few times, Val D'Oro. We were greeted by Luigi, the owner whose banter is unique and who serenaded us while we ate our suppers!
After the break, we watched as the Gutty Slippers came in to entertain the crowd with some manic drumming, dancing and bagpiping...they were energetic and very loud, even if they has missed the point of the event shouting as they did at one point "Three cheers for the bride and groom..."!

Jiggered Ceilidh Band travelled to the East Coast for a wedding at Carberry Tower. This was the first time we'd played at the Tower and on this summer night it was one of the most special venues we've been to....the main building is an impressive castle and we ceilidhed in the chapel which has a huge glass wall which opened out onto a garden and the huge Orchadian Strip the Willow spilled out onto the grass!
We've had to update our Facebook group, so if you want to become a friend or fan of Jiggered on Facebook, add us: http://www.facebook.com/groups/221278814577805
There may even be special offers from time to time or big Jiggered news.

Jiggered Ceilidh Band were playing at St Andrews in the Square last night. We've played more times at this venue than any other and really enjoy it- the acoustics are beautiful, the surroundings are very grand and there's a huge dance floor which is perfect for ceilidhs!
Last night, David and Lindsey (the bride and groom) had enjoyed a great day and the evening was lots of fun too.
During one of the disco sets during the evening, Jiggered were chatting away and Ewan confessed to a few embarrassing comments- I won't use them all up in one blog but here's one for starters: "What kind of creature is the Pink Panther anyway?".

Despite the fact I had lost my voice, we managed to put on a pretty good show. Don't believe me? Here's the email we got from the lovely couple the daye after the wedding:
Thanks so much Chris....everybody complimented your music and how well you adapted to the crowd. Jenny's singing was just beautiful. Even the overseas visitors were able to join in thanks to the fab instructions. I was so busy dancing & mingling myself that I didn't get a chance to properly thank you in person but we had a great time and will definitely spread the word about you for future events! Do you have a facebook at all so that we could add you to let everyone know about you? Thanks again, Mark & Lesley Mr & Mrs Gallacher!

Top ceilidh band Jiggered kicked off their busiest ever July with a ceilidh on behalf of staff from the Southern General Hospital. It was a lovely evening and after setting up we spent an hour or so outside with a cool drink- smashing stuff!
Feedback from the ceilidhers was incredible- lots of people came to tell us how much they were enjoying the music including one young woman who said "You guys are fantastic and I should know: I'm a ceilidh whore". What an endorsement!
Raymie's mum made an appearance at the ceilidh and Ewan took the opportunity to steal a kiss- oh, the freedom of life as a single guy [Ewan got a private reg this week- might have a blog about that in the future. And no, it's not J1 GRD as I hoped.
