Last night Jiggered got all saddled up and galloped along to Hamilton Park Racecourse for the wedding celebration of Scott and Natalie, who were celebrating with friends and family this side of the Atlantic following their marriage ceremony in the Bahamas!
It was definitely a night of firsts for Jiggered, despite it coming up to our 10 year anniversary as a band. Stephen Watson made his Jiggered debut and did a great job standing in for Chris, who left yesterday for a "quiet" weekend with the girls in Magaluf (sure Chris!). As a result, I am making my blog writing debut! At the break we got our photos taken in an actual photobooth (courtesy of Silly Snapz - photos on Facebook soon) and were also served Fillippo's ice cream from an actual ice cream stand - two more Jiggered firsts!
Noticeably it was our first ever Dashing White Sergeant with just one set and first ever Orcadian Strip The Willow with just one couple - who attempted some Michael Jackson Thriller moves. Classic!
Big thanks to Scott and Natalie for having us and we wish the happy couple all the best for the future!
The band are now laying low for a couple of days and re-charging their batteries, with 3 ceilidhs coming up this week alone - all of which are weddings. Tis the season...and we love it!

We've played at Crutherland Hotel, East Kilbride loads over the years...it's a really superb venue (great access for the band, a huge big function room- perfect for weddings!). And in charge of proceedings last night was Chris Rock. The Crutherland Banqueting Supervisor presumably gets people going on and on and on about his name but when Jiggered Ceilidh Band spotted it Chris was happy to pose for a quick snap for the blog!
Mhairi and Dawson had hired us for their wedding and asked us to play "Your Song" by Ellie Goulding for their first dance. It went well but the LED dance floor was playing up so we did a second first dance for the couple later with another of their favourite songs "Caledonia" and the photographers managed to get some photos of the happy couple with the dance floor working!
After the break we performed quite a few covers (including some specific requests from guests that were debut performances for Jiggered!).
It was exciting to have Emma along with us as we played as a 5-piece...Emma might be joining Jiggered's lineup in the future (watch this space!).

Jiggered Ceilidh Band were delighted to be invited to play at Jillian and Ruwan's wedding. It was our first visit to Solsgirth House...but hopefully not our last. It's an absolutely stunning venue with an incredible castle-style building and unquestionably the most impressive marquee we've ever seen.If you're looking to get married in central Scotland it's well worth a look!
Jillian and Ruwan had asked for two specific requests- they wanted us to learn Christina Perri's Thousand Years for their first dance and for us to rate their dancing skills in the style of Strictly Come Dancing (they're big fans)...see the photo of Jenny and Susan for proof!
It was also nice to meet Jill and Ryan- a couple that had popped by to view us. You'll read the blog of their wedding in 2013!!

Just up this morning after a Monday night wedding for Jiggered Ceilidh Band and plenty of blog material from this one. The venue was The House for an Art Lover (a really beautiful setting amid stunning gardens, with an intimate downstairs space ideal for smaller weddings and the buffet platters brought to each table during our break were brilliant!). The photographer for the day was a certain Andi Watson (our favourite photographer on the wedding circuit by a mile).
The bride and groom Catriona and Andy were up dancing lots and their guests were a brilliant crowd who really knew how to ceilidh and have fun! We even had a wee solo set from Andy's sister, Emma which received a huge round of applause!
Thanks to Susan for her photographic excellence, Ewan for his scanning expertise and Jenny for not bothering with that panel.

Glasgow's Thistle Hotel was the venue for the annual SANDS charity ball. It's the third year that Jiggered Ceilidh Band had helped out with this excellent charity (who help support bereaved parents when a baby dies).
The compere for the night was the outstanding Greg Summers who is without question the best event frontman we've come across and it was a pleasure to work with him again. Greg keeps every event ticking over effortlessly- he's great at keeping guests amused with his banter and even parts of the evening which usually drag by were a lot of fun! Last time we worked with Greg he touted for business by carrying our banner stand around the dance floor (see this blog post) and he was again plugging our website throughout the night- "www.jiggered.com I love them and they're Scottish". Thanks Greg!
The meal at the Thistle was really nice and set us up for our two short ceilidh sets which sandwiched a 20-minute performance by former Pop Idol Michelle McManus who was playing at this fundraiser for the second year in a row (Michelle described Jiggered as "phenomenal"). Ewan got her autograph.
We wish SANDS all the best for the coming year- thanks to Linsay for booking us up again!

It's been a while since Jiggered Ceilidh Band ventured over to Edinburgh and this was one trip that was definitely worth it! Jeremy hired us to play at his girlfriend Fiona's 30th birthday party and it was going to be in her parents' living room!! The house was beautiful set in lovely gardens and the perfect location to gather their friends and family for a double celebration...Jeremy proposed to Fiona and she said "yes". Awwwww.
Jiggered provided an energetic mix of ceilidh, covers, Scottish classics and even accompanied star performer Irvine for a couple of songs! It was a great night and we wish Jeremy and Fiona all the best...maybe we'll get the wedding gig when it comes around!

Apparently last night's wedding at the Brig O Doon was a much more civilised affair than earlier in the week- while being filmed for a certain bride-related TV programme, plenty of drama apparently unfolded (*spoiler alert: expect an AWOL bride, a livid celebrant and some other incidents culminating in a brawl on the dance floor*).
Thankfully, Jiggered were in for a treat. Our bride and groom were well behaved, and their guests were too! A fun night.
