Jill and Ryan were getting married and entrusted the important responsibility of the music to Jiggered Ceilidh Band. The wedding was in The Glen Pavilion, situated in Pittencrieff Park, Dunfermline. We've played there before and it's hosted some impressive guests over the years including the Queen and Dalai Lama!
With Susan on maternity leave and Ewan in Tunisia, the band line-up was a wee bit different but in fiddler Raymie and drummer Joseph we had a safe pair of pair of hands! Ryan and Jill really liked our blend of Scottish tunes, ceilidh dances and covers and we packed loads into the evening's programme. We even managed to throw in a couple of their favourites (wheeling out our versions of Christina Perry's Thousand Years and Barry Louis Polisar's All I Want is You- an excuse for me to dust off the old harmonica!).
Some quality bacon rolls and sweety 'pick n mix' put a smile on my face. Yum.
Fantastic banter, tasty food and lots of keen dancers (the closing Strip the Willow was epic) made this a really fun evening.

Jiggered Ceilidh Band were back in action at the lovely Garden Suite at Norton House Hotel, near Edinburgh. We've played here a couple of times in the last few weeks (I hoped to find the geeky calculator iPhone cover I left last time but it was gone) and it's a fantastic venue. The garden suite in particular is a really great wedding venue, the staff are friendly and helpful and you know you're in for a yummy buffet at the break.
Ross the groom had booked us up and a few guests told us during the night that they'd enjoyed us on previous occasions. Last night was another brilliant night with the dance floor filled with enthusiastic dancers for every ceilidh dance!
This was Susan's last ceilidh until August-she's expecting her second kid at the end of this month so her maternity leave kicks in now. It's an exciting time and we can't wait to welcome the latest member of "Jiggered Juniors" into the world! The summer gigs will be feature Claire, Raymie and Neil on violin (the show must go on and this is a very capable crew)!
All the best Susan :)

Over the past few years Jiggered Ceilidh Band have at Crear umpteen times for weddings. It's a 3hr journey to Crear from my house but it allows us to have a good blether in the car. The most contentious topic was this hot potato "Is a duck a bird?". Despite my insistence it was (ok, my reasoning of "it flies and you get it when served a bird-in-a-bird-in-a-bird was a bit ropey), Ewan's suggestion it might be a fish and Emma playing the "I'm a doctor so I'm right" card to shut both of us up we didn't really reach agreement. It appears wikipedia is on my side!
Claire and Craig had asked for the themetune to Juno (All I Want Is You) for their first dance so I had to buy a harmonica and learn how to play the part. It went well and the rest of the night was great with the Jiggered mix of Scottish tunes, ceilidh and covers being a real hit with everyone at the wedding.
Next week is Susan's last ceilidh before her maternity leave!
