It was a 400 mile round trip but well worth it!
Daniel and Deborah booked up Jiggered Ceilidh Band to perform at their wedding in the Buchan Braes Hotel. The hotel's right on the coast with some stunning views (just look at this photo from drummer/photographer Ewan). Daniel and Deborah looked to have had a fantastic day and were excellent hosts to us- arranging for us to stay over at the lovely hotel...
The evening itself kicked off with the Grand March (a massive tradition up in Tcheuchter Land). We played a couple of short sets during the evening and it was nice that a few guests approached us to say how much they'd enjoyed our unique blend.
After all that driving, I need a lie down.
ps If you're ever going to borrow a towel, make sure it is Raymie's!

Happy Fathers' Day to all you dads out there.
Last night Jiggered Ceilidh Band were playing at Mabie House Hotel. It's a bit of a jaunt to get down there and things in Dumfries were slightly manic as the street pageant meant several main roads were blocked off. But the band arrived in plenty time at the Hotel and set up all the sound stuff.
Groom Derek and bride Heather had organised a slick wedding day (Derek's a project manager by trade!) but they certainly managed to enjoy the big day. They were smiling all night- that's nice to see. Every Jiggered set was well-received by the crowd- and there were even guests who had "50 years of playing in a ceilidh band" which is a good sign. Of course, it's the new Mr and Mrs who we're trying to keep happy first and foremost and at the end of the night Derek told me that he "couldn't recommend Jiggered highly enough".
During the break, Ewan took a break from hi-tech digital marketing to do some low-tech sequin marketing (see photo). Raymie and Emma were on fine form musically. This pair just keep getting better and better. It was also nice to avoid any drama on this visit to Mabie (last time Susan and I ended up in a ditch)!

Broomhall Castle, Menstrie is a venue we've played at before so it was nice to return last night for the wedding of Mr and Mrs Bird. The happy couple had asked Jiggered Ceilidh Band to play Red Red Rose for their first dance. After that the ceilidh was in full swing. This crowd love Scottish music- the guests are really into their bagpipes and drums. We were treated to a few brilliant performances from these guys during the night.
During the break, we chatted about Raymie's tree fascination, Ewan's presentation, kissing etiquette...deep stuff, all of it!
Congratulations to Andy and Karen- all the best, thanks for having us play at your wedding.

Let's do some time travel...
Returning to the present now...
Time: summer 2013
Location: Lochside House Hotel, New Cumnock
Event: Ewan's friends Fi and Jono getting married
Band: Jiggered Ceilidh Band (of course)
It's weird. Despite the similarities, lots has obviously changed over the years. I loved the old Lochside at the time but it has been transformed in a decade into one of the very best venues in central Scotland. It's absolutely amazing. And I loved the old Jiggered at the time, but (even if I do say so myself) we've improved and adpated and are a much slicker, professional outfit than we were back then. Here's to the next 10 years!
ps Nice to see Ewan's fan club (he actually threw sticks into the crowd at one stage) and our good pals Ewan D and Joseph last night! Thanks to Neil, filling in for Susan (who had her baby, Ciara last week! Woohoo!).
