When the father of bride takes responsibility for booking the wedding band it can lead to a few nerves...will his idea of a brilliant ceilidh band match the bride and groom's ideal wedding band? In this case there was nothing to worry about: it seems dad Des has a knack for selecting the perfect band for Sarah and Jonny! The happy couple were delighted with our sound, energy and variety. And the guests were loving the Jiggered experience! And we even lined up a booking with a Scottish celebrity for 2014 (more of that in a future blog but suffice to say Raymie and Ewan especially were star struck!).
Madderty Community Hall is a beautiful wee venue. When we arrived the sun was still shining- Emma took the opportunity to get this photo taken next to this creepy benchmate! And we were treated to ice cream and strawberries...The ideal start to what was an excellent ceilidh.

This time it was for Paul and Kerry's wedding. The evening kicked off with a waltz (we played Hector the Hero) where the bride and groom were joined by the wedding party. The crowd really liked our ceilidh stuff- every dance they quickly populated the dance floor and showed they knew what they were doing!
After the buffet we did a short set until 11.30pm when everyone was invited up to the front of the building to wave off the new Mr and Mrs Henderson. While this was happening we played some acoustic bits and pieces below the unique echo-generating ceilidh in the centre of the room. I took some video footage on my phone. I got carried away and turned the phone around a bit but if you can get past that you'll enjoy Emma' s version of Mr Brightside...and if you really want to hear Raymie's attempt at Cotton-Eyed Joe you'll have to email me directly!!

Hope all you Jiggered fans are enjoying this glorious weather we're having! The holiday mood has spread across Scotland and it's a welcome sight. Last night we were back at the luxurious Ardoe House in Aberdeen...the newly married Mr and Mrs Gardiner had booked us up after hearing us play at a few of their friends' weddings and it was a pleasure to play for them!
Guest caller Jenny was excited to hear we were kicking things off with a Grand March- it was enormous and looked very impressive. Then we played 1000 miles for the bride and groom's first dance. With us only getting started about 10pm we had to cram a LOT into our short set but everything was really well received by this enthusiastic crowd!
The banter in the band before the gig was, as ever, scintillating. Hot topics included phone contract, how many babies is too many babies, Raymie's dress sense and the best way to get to Homebase.
Got a double wedding next weekend- woohoo!

It was great to have Susan back in action last night (just a mini-break from her maternity leave) as Jiggered Ceilidh Band provided the entertainment at Stephen and Vanessa's wedding. The sun was shining all day and that made the venue, Troon's Lochgreen, look even nicer than usual!
The evening kicked off with Red Red Rose for the first dance. The wedding party joined the happy couple on the dance floor during this and they were a permanent feature in every dance...really nice to see bride, groom, bridesmaids, ushers and best men taking centre stage during the wedding celebrations!
During the break we enjoyed the buffet, the bride accidentally hit me in the stomach and Ewan finally phoned his mum to find out how his mum broke her elbow!
Another really enjoyable night- wishing Mr and Mrs O Reilly all the best in married life.
