Jiggered Ceilidh Band: Brig O Doon Weddings Are Magic!

Jiggered Ceilidh Band: Brig O Doon Weddings Are Magic!

Bride-and-groom-to-be Emma and Kris came to hear Jiggered Ceilidh Band play at another wedding in the Barony Hall in 2013. Even though bride Emma and Jiggered's Emma are good friends, the couple rightly wanted to make sure that they were getting a band that would guarantee a brilliant night!

Fast forward a year, and the new Mr and Mrs Duke have a lovely wedding in the superb Ayrshire "Costley and Costley" venue, Brig O Doon. Set in Alloway, it seemed appropriate that we would sound check with "My Love is Like A Red Red Rose"- the lyrics of Robbie Burns are etched above the doorway to the main function room where we've enjoyed playing in so many times!

This was a night of special requests: from the first dance (Adele's "Make you feel my love ") to a daughter/dad dance to guest requests ("Ashokan Farewell" and a couple of others). The crowd were loving the Jiggered blend of ceilidh/covers. They were up on the floor throughout our sets...joining in with the bride's final request (Emma's version of "Mr Bightside"). and sitting on the floor to enjoy the ever-popular Deacon Blue tune "Dignity"!

It was nice to have Dr Brockett's mum and dad in the crowd and to chat for a wee while.

Ewan and Chris had to veto Susan's suggestion for a Jiggered uniform, based on her husband's penchant for leggings...

Jiggered Ceilidh Band Wedding at Inchyra Hotel and Spa

Jiggered Ceilidh Band Wedding at Inchyra Hotel and Spa

Alan and Fiona were so keen to have Jiggered play at their wedding that they changed the date! We're delighted they did- it was a brilliant evening in the Inchyra Hotel and Spa, near Falkirk!

Their first dance choice was our cover of Ellie Goulding's "How Long Will I Love You"...After this, it was onto the ceilidh action! The crowd were loving the Jiggered blend of songs and ceilidh tunes. So did David and Amy, a lovely couple who've booked us up for their wedding in September 2015!

The bride and groom had personalised tea bags as favours for guests- Emma and Susan were lucky enough to get one each to take home!

After the buffet we went over to get set up for the second half. One young wedding guest asked me "Are you packing away your instruments?". I explained we were just about to play some more. She looked a bit sad "Aw...mum says we've got to go home now." Looks like we've added to the next generation of Jiggered fans!

Jiggered Ceilidh Band at Cartland Bridge Wedding, Lanark

Jiggered Ceilidh Band at Cartland Bridge Wedding, Lanark

It's easy to get up tight when your wedding day is approaching...you want it to run like clockwork and for every little detail to pan out exactly as you've imagined, planned and dreamed it for months. But remember! This is your wedding- a day to enjoy and savour. Angela might just be the most relaxed bride we've ever worked with- she chatted excitedly with us at the start of the evening about how the day had gone and was buzzing about the rest of the evening, And sure enough, she loved every minute! From the first dance (our cover, by special request, of Jason Mraz's "I won't give up"), to the ceilidh dances, to boogying during our break (to Angela's playlist including the Slosh, Gangnam Style, Timewarp...) it was clear this bride was having a blast.

As ever, the Jiggered team had a great evening. This was our first visit to Cartland Bridge Hotel, Lanark. The grounds are lovely and it's an impressive building! Quality band banter revolved around Emma's proposal of the Theology of Batman, Ewan's insight that "backs can be deceiving", while Chris and Susan decided they needed to decide they needed to choose "their song"...
