Jiggered Ceilidh Band's Cyborg Back in Action!

Jiggered Ceilidh Band's Cyborg Back in Action!

Jiggered's final wedding of 2014 was in the Hilton Grosvenor in Glasgow's West End. Louise booked us up after hearing us at the Hampden Wedding Show and we're delighted she did- the reception was unique, with several performances from friends and family of the bride and groom. Two of their friends sung the first dance song, a couple of bridesmaids performed a fantastic medley of songs for the newlyweds and then there was a flashmob-style surprise of "A Season of Love" by members of their amateur dramatic group!

Ewan took some real nice photos at the Hilton but the undoubted star of the show was our Emma. Having just undergone heart surgery on Wednesday, it looked like we were in a desperate spot without our singer/guitarist/caller. But Emma is an absolute trooper and didn't let us down! She arrived (with her new pacemaker) and was absolutely superb as usual! She had to answer about a million questions about the procedure and her new bit of electronics and we even got to feel the device. I'm something of an expert now!

Anyway, a fit and healthy Jiggered team seems like a brilliant Christmas present. Hope all our fans have a great Christmas too: "A saviour has been born to you: He is Christ the Lord".

Jiggered Ceilidh Band at Bearsden Wedding

Jiggered Ceilidh Band at Bearsden Wedding

You can tell straight away this will be an event you'll love when the first thing the bride says to you is to an offer to finish off her dessert while she gets you a cuppa! Bride Ruth, groom Justin and the everyone we spoke to last night were so lovely- it was a pleasure to play at this wedding!

Held in the stunning new build at Bearsden Baptist, there were lots of nice personal touches and my kids would have loved the wedding cake which featured the bride and groom alongside Frozen's Olaf!

Jiggered's Emma had heart surgery on Wednesday. I'm happy to report that the operation to fit a pacemaker went well and she is making great progress. In fact, she'll be playing at our next wedding on Monday- what a trooper! In her absence last night, Claire filled in and did a great job of calling and it was a treat to have Susan and Claire providing double the fiddle action. Thanks for helping again, Claire!

The evening ended with us being applauded as we left the building. That doesn't happen every time, but I might start suggesting it!!

All the best to Ruth and Justin...

Jiggered Ceilidh Band: Christmas at Cartsbridge, Glasgow

Jiggered Ceilidh Band: Christmas at Cartsbridge, Glasgow

Jiggered Ceilidh Band were performing tonight at Cartsbridge Evangelical Church. We've played there before and recognised a few familiar faces which is always nice.

It's Christmas Season which means a few ceilidhs coming up, and of course our latest trip to Gleddoch on Hogmanay!

We had a great night- Ewan seemed to be losing control of his drumsticks more than usual (Susan had some near misses as they flew off in her direction). I thought that there must be a product for drummers of drumsticks that were slightly more gripped or tacky even. I'd call them "Sticky Sticks" but when I googled that, I got distracted by images of sticky chicken drumsticks (that explain the blog picture?).

Big week for oor Emma coming up....(more about this another time)!
