It's a busy wee spell for one of Scotland's most in-demand ceilidh bands. Our latest event was Rachael and Paul's wedding at Sherbrooke Castle, Glasgow. Rachael and Paul asked us to play Ben Folds' "Luckiest" for their first dance which although a unique request for us in 13 years of weddings, turned out to be a beautiful choice (even if, as Rachael explained, they hadn't been the luckiest with the weather earlier in the day).
This was another fantastic crowd (we've been spoiled that way in recent weeks) and the whole evening was great fun. There was a cricket-theme going on- from the table names to the seating plan. I wasn't bowled over by this (!).
I'm off for a week now, so Stephen will be deputising on the keys in my absence for our next wedding: that of our old buddy David!

It all started for Jiggered back at Strathclyde University in 2002 and it's always nice to make a return visit on ceilidh business! Especially to The Barony: a fabulously atmospheric building with outstanding acoustics. Dr Alison Ramage and Dr Phil Knight knew just the right ceilidh band to encourage the delegates at this 26th Biennial Numerical Analysis Conference. With visitors from across the world it needed the expert calling of Emma and the relentless enthusiasm of Team Jiggered to make this ceilidh such a belter! We didn't allow many breaks as we churned out ceilidh tune after ceilidh tune- the crowd were loving it! I'd be told in advanced (by a certain Professor friend of mine) that we wouldn't need to worry too much about stray notes as Numerical Analysts are only interested in approximations. However, I suspect this "joke" is a bit niche for the majority of our fans... Anyway, a two day break before our next two ceilidhs!!

Stuart and Sophie heard us perform back in 2014 at the Hampden Wedding Show and promptly booked us up for their wedding (they were a pleasure to play for!).
Their wedding was at Culag, a private wedding venue on the edge of Loch Lomond. Although being relatively new, Patrick and his team provide something so unique that they're fully booked for 2015,2016,2017! Wedding parties take over the venue for a few days at a time and if Stuart and Sophie's guests were anything to go by it's loads of fun! Barbecues by the beach, a wedding ceilidh, bouncy castle, toasting marshmallows on the impressive fire pit, boating on the private section of the loch...It's excellent.
Playing for this crowd was great- they danced all night, loved the mixture of ceilidh and covers. We also wheeled out our version of Sleeping at Last's reworking of "500 miles", as Sophie and Stuart's first dance! It's becoming a popular choice these days. The evening ended with Stuart and Sophie being thrown into the air by their guests while we played "The Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond".
We wish the happy couple all the best and (having chatted to Patrick and Jorge for a while during the evening) look forward to revisiting Culag again and again...

Jiggered were delighted to be invited to play at Louise and James' wedding. It was at the Kenmore Hotel (Scotland's oldest inn!!). It was a lovely location and when we arrived the wedding party and guests were getting photos taken in front of the river.
Louise and James had selected "Caledonia" for their first dance and by the end of this, the floor was filled and everyone was singing along- it was a good sign that the crowd were going to be a fun bunch to play for. It was a brilliant night and eveyone (including us) had a blast!
The June Jiggered action doesn't end here either- next Saturday starts a run of four gigs in eight days. Just as well we're a well-oiled machine (eh, Susan?)!

The Southern General Summer Ball is one we've enjoyed playing at before and it was nice to be back at Oran Mor!
After a meal, the crowd were entertained by a band made up of their own colleagues who introduced themselves as our warm-up act!
These guys really love a ceilidh- the floor was crammed as we played an action-packed ceilidh set...dance after dance.
We're off to Perthshire for a wedding tonight as a busy couple of months continues for Team Jiggered.
