It's well over ten years since we were at Strathclyde with Alan but when he married Charlotte and needed a ceilidh band for the Scottish round of post-wedding celebrations, guess who he booked? I'll give you a clue- it wasn't One Direction.
Jiggered have made a number of visits to Cartsbridge over the years and it was great to be back to play there again. This was our 7th ceilidh this month and we're only at the 19th September. It's been busy but a lot of fun too. And we've met loads of smashing folk.
Dancing, bacon rolls, a photo slideshow crammed with photos from Alan and Charlotte's wedding, amazing traybakes, Ewan Speedie...Outstanding!
All the best to Alan and Charlotte!

I spent yesterday at the BBC, being filmed for a small part in a TV game show called "The Dog Ate My Homework". It was an odd experience (not least as it was the Christmas special, being recorded in September) and, inevitably given the fact it's a brilliant-but-ridiculous CBBC programme, I ended up looking like a complete tube. All canine-related excuses for forgetting your homework are of course, unnacceptable to us teachers, kids.
Anyway, last night Jiggered travelled to Bishopbriggs to play at Cadder Freestone Social Club. Gordon who booked us made sure we were well looked after. He provided us with drinks, bigged us up on our on-stage intro (twice), gave us a tour of the place...And at the end of the evening he let us know how pleased he was with the ceilidh and said those words that let you know you must have done a good job "You'll be back"....

Last millennium, I went to school with a girl called Emma. Some years (and about 500 Facebook messages later) Jiggered were playing at mma's great fundraiser in Kilmarnock's St Joseph's Hall. Emma's been raising money all year for Ayrshire Hospice, in memory of her dad Norman Muir Birnie.
The evening was a lot of fun and the hall was packed with families and young children enjoying each other's company, the music, raffle and food.
Tonight's ceilidh brought in over £1000 and Emma is not stopping yet. She's heading off with her wee family to Florida in the morning but will soon return to her latest challenge: a half marathon. We wish Emma all the best with her fundraising adventure!

It's always nice to hear back from clients who say that they've appreciated the service we have provided. This week we played Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday...and we've had lovely messages from each of the clients since then. Check out what these folk had to say about the Jiggered Ceilidh Band experience:
I honestly can not thank you guys enough. The day was just perfect and you guys topped the whole thing off! You did a brilliant job! All the guests have been talking about how great it was. We will absolutely recommend you guys to anyone and will happily book you again if we have any other events! Thanks once again. All the best.
Amy and David, bride and groom (Westerwood Hotel, 5th September 2015)
Thank you so much for playing at (our) special day!! We thought you guys were amazing and all our guests thoroughly enjoyed the ceilidh dancing and thought you were excellent. Thanks again!!
Diane and Dom, bride and groom (Crieff Hydro, 4th September 2015)
Thanks for the ceilidh last night. I think it was the most successful we have ever had. We plan to run the event again next year so, if it's not too far ahead, can we pencil in a booking for 2016?
Adrian, conference organiser (Glasgow University, 3rd September 2015)
Best ceilidh ever, I heard!

Westerwood Hotel and Golf Resort was the location for our latest ceilidh. It's a great venue (a massive room available for weddings, incredible buffet and helpful staff)- you should check it out sometime!
It was a real pleasure to play for David and Amy's big day. You could tell they were loving the big day and we were delighted to be their ceilidh band! This crowd were well up for a ceilidh...it made for an amazing evening.
Another night with Stephen taking video footage for soon-to-be-released Jiggered promo videos (watch this space). Unfortunately he didn't manage to catch my epic forward roll...
Anyway, a brilliant end to our run of ceilidhs. All the best to the new Mr and Mrs Walker!

While Scotland's football team slumped to a 0-1 defeat to Georgia, Jiggered were getting ready to entertain the guests at a much cheerier event: Dom and Diane's wedding. Crieff Hydro is a lovely venue and we were in the Ferntower Suite.
Dom and Diane had a ceilidh for the first couple of hours of the evening- after the buffet they had a pair of guitarists performing. So that would've meant an early night for us had it not been for two diversions on our journey back home...
We're back in wedding action tonight. Looking forward to it!

The second of our run of four ceilidhs was an absolute cracker. This annual event for Statistics PhD students is always brilliant. A (statistically) significant number of them are international students who've never ceilidhed before but as soon as Emma announced the dance they were spilling onto the dance floor to learn how to do it. A pleasure to play for!
As if that wasn't enough, this lot provided some pretty special performances during the break including a rendition of the Danish national anthem, poetry, an Irish duet, odes to Scots abroad, our fan Adrian's love like red, red roses, an impressive piano piece...and lots more.
The evening started badly with Susan getting her (courtesy) car bashed from a woman blinded by the dazzling Scottish sun! But everyone's fine and looking forward to the next step in our adventure (50% done):

Jiggered kicked off a really busy September with Lauren and Stewart's wedding at Houston House Hotel, Livingston. After the wedding cake was cut, a second cake appeared...a surprise birthday cake for Stewart resembling a massive can of Irn Bru (sorry I didn't get a photo).
As well as the ceilidh action, the guests also enjoyed a performance from Stewart's dad AKA "Giorgio the Magician from Northern Ireland" and a round of "Mr and Mrs" with the new Mr and Mrs Leslie!
Anyway, mission accomplished: great ceilidh, Ewan didn't lose any items (a regular occurrence recently) and now we head off to Glasgow Uni for our next one!
