Hope you all enjoyed your extra hour in bed last night with the clocks changing! After a ceilidh over in North Berwick last night, it was a welcome pressie for the jiggered members of Jiggered Ceilidh Band!
We were invited to play at Edward and Ottilie's wedding at MacDonald's Marine Hotel and from the very start it was clear this was a crowd who were keen to ceilidh! The guests were invited onto the floor to join the new Mr and Mrs Crossan during their first dance (we'd learned "Beneath the Rose" as a special request by the couple) and they were keen to pile on for every dance after that!
All the best for the future, Edward and Ottilie!

Cast your mind back to 1996. An era when the Scottish football team actually managed to qualify for the odd World Cup or Euro Championships. October that year, the Scottish team arrived in Estonia's capital Tallinn for their latest match. A mixup lead to one of the most ridiculous scenes in the Tartan Army's history- Scotland lined up for their national anthem, kicked off, and celebrated victory a few seconds later. There was no Estonian team there! Refresh your memory of the story here.
Fast forward almost exactly 20 years. Thankfully there was no such mis-match at Fraser and Selene's wedding celebrations. Both sides of the union turned up: Fraser representing the Scots and Selene was Estonian bride! They had their big "do" in St Andrews in the Square. It's a lovely venue- if you are having a function there bear in mind that your band will have to work with the sound limiter system installed because the building is in a redsidential area. We are used to playing with these but it can be hard as enthusiastic whooping andn clapping from the ceilidhers add to the decibel count!!
Congrats to Mr and Mrs Law. Thanks for having us.

Jiggered were excited to be playing at Fraser and Rachel's wedding for a number of reasons:
-it was our first time playing at the impressive Elphinstone Hall at Aberdeen University
-we were able to issue celebratory high fives to Paul and Carolyn, still going strong 6 months after we played at their wedding
-the opportunity for us to play a waltz written especially for the couple's big day
Fraser and Rachel were a lovely couple- they looked after us like one of their guests and were an absolute pleasure to play for. We reckon that the gorgeous Rachel had chosen the ideal wedding dress for spinning around during the ceilidh dancing. Fraser thanked us for our "almost-instantaneous" response time to his emails during the planning of the wedding...if you're looking for a ceilidh band and want to ensure you get one that will reply quickly and accommodate your specific requests give us a shout!
A superb wedding. All the best for the future, Fraser and Rachel.

Jiggered were in action David and Tina's recent wedding celebrations at Dundas Castle, near Edinburgh. The couple had a lavish fusion wedding recognising the Indian and Scottish culture. DJ Hari was in charge of entertainment for the evening and hired Jiggered to provide a burst of ceilidh in between his Asian DJing. It was fun working with this larger-than-life character who complemented Emma's calling, even translating the calling instructions!
A memorable night- thanks for having us Hari!

Jiggered have played at Bothwell Bridge Hoel but not for a long time! The room used for weddings has been done up and looked amazing last night for Elaine and Colin's wedding.
It was also the bride's birthday so the Hotel produced a big birthday cake ablaze with candles and the wedding coordinator serenade Elaine (tunelessly) in a rendition of "Happy Birthday"!
The guests loved the ceilidh dancing and the happy couple had requested some of their favourite tunes for the playlist at the break which proved popular as the floor was well filled all night.
All the best, Colin and Elaine!
