Jiggered Ceilidh Band at Glasgow's Redhurst Hotel

Jiggered Ceilidh Band at Glasgow's Redhurst Hotel

Alarm bells would usually be ringing if a 20-year-old was having his second wedding...and something would definitely be weird if it was to the same girl! But, as Cameron explained, this wedding celebration at Glasgow's Redhurst Hotel was the Scottish followup to the Canadian marriage of the new "Mr and Mrs Russell" back in June!

Jiggered were priveleged to join the guests for the lovely meal before we entertained the crowds with ceilidh action. Obviously, we included a Canadian Barndance as tribute to the bride and her family!

We recognised a few guests (including a few whose weddings we've done in the past). And at one point, a woman came up to ask "Are you that Mr Smith, the Maths teacher?". It turns out her boys attended the school I teach at but their mum is always the one who's sent to approach people they bump into but aren't sure if it's really them. Apparently, I joined an elite group including Ant & Dec and Lionel Messi...

As well as congratulations to the smiley bride and groom, we also celebrated Jiggered's Emma turning 30. She always claims that she's "a different generation" but we're all within 20% of her age now with this percentage only due to shrink! Have a great brithday, Emma!

Jiggered play at Isla's 30th birthday fundraiser in Troon

Jiggered play at Isla's 30th birthday fundraiser in Troon

Jiggered's latest ceilidh was in Troon Concert Hall (a brilliant venue for a big party). This time round we were playing for the lovely Isla who combined her 30th birthday celebrations with an opportunity to add to her impressive charity efforts. She's already raised a load of money for Alzheimer's Scotland...hopefully the ceilidh adds lots more to that worthwhile cause!

The evening was a huge success. Isla's friends and family had turned out in their droves, her mum (Helen) had organised a silent auction, the food was great and everyone had a brilliant evening.

Isla couldn't have been more chuffed at the end of the night- if you're looking for a band testimonial please ask Isla, a new lifelong Jiggered fan! Thanks also to my colleague Hollie (Isla's buddy) who got us the gig!

Another great shift from Ellyn (banter, classy vocals and the Altogether) and Raymie (who has mastered even our new fiendishly difficult ceilidh tunes).

Five star Mar Hall wedding for Jiggered

Five star Mar Hall wedding for Jiggered

Jiggered are in the middle of wedding season and have loads of exciting ceilidhs lined up for the summer! This latest one found us at Gordon and Jill's wedding reception at the luxurious Mar Hall.

Four year old Daniel was keen to help us set up, find out more about the Jiggered lineup and instruments- he even got in on some pre-first dance photos!

There were a few familiar faces in this wedding crowd. And boy, did they know how to ceilidh! Ellyn was standing in for Emma and guided the dancers through Ceilidh dances they were already master of but threw in one that was new to everyone (including the rest of the band)!! Lots of fun...

Next up, we're back in TrOOn (Raymie's favourite!)...

If marrying in Edinburgh's for you, then why not check out Ghillie Dhu?

If marrying in Edinburgh's for you, then why not check out Ghillie Dhu?

Ronald and Cat were getting married. They were looking for a band that would provide the ceilidh music that Scottish lassie Cat loved, the expert instructions that Dutch knakker Ronald knew his friends and family would need and the covers that would have their guests up boogying in between! Up stepped Jiggered.

The venue? Edinburgh's Ghillie Dhu. Stunning architecture, central city setting, experienced sound team...it's a class act.

At the end of the evening, the couple were delighted with our set...Cat said (and I'm paraphrasing to tone down some of her colourful language!) "That was amazing. I mean I'm Scottish and I've danced away to some dances I've never even heard of. I love a good ceilidh- thanks."

Jiggered Ceilidh Band- Wedding at Troon's Piersland House Hotel

Jiggered Ceilidh Band- Wedding at Troon's Piersland House Hotel

It was a real treat to play at Iain and Kirsten's special day- the couple had their wedding reception at the Piersland in Troon (a venue we've played at many times). The evening kicked off with the cutting of the cake(s). At this wedding, one cake wouldn't do- there were a host of cakes on offer!

The newlyweds had chosen Paramore's "I'm into you" for their first dance- Emma did a beautiful version of this. This was quickly followed by a dad-daughter dance to Carrie Underwood's "The girl you think I am". After the preliminaries, the ceilidh was soon in full swing! We had a great night, and it seemed that the guests did too as they danced along to ceilidh and covers all night.

At the end of the evening Kirsten came over to thank us for the music...Happy bride? Mission accomplished!

Jiggered Ceilidh Band at Wedderburn Castle wedding!

Jiggered Ceilidh Band at Wedderburn Castle wedding!

Last night's ceilidh was Kerry and Stuart's wedding at Wedderburn Barns in the grounds of Wedderburn Castle. This was Jiggered's first time at the lovely rural venue and the couple had asked us to learn and perform our own special version of 'Fooled around and fell in love' by Elvin Bishop for their first dance - another Jiggered first! It went down a storm and set the scene for a great night of ceilidh dancing. Emma instructed the large number of English guests expertly through all the dances, and Stephen stood in for Chris admirably on keys. A fire pit, cheese themed buffet and sweetie wagon made for a memorable night! All the best Stuart and Kerry!
