The Scene of the Crime
On Friday night, we returned to where it all began: the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, where Jiggered first formed and made its debut performance. More than twenty years later, we arrived with a repertoire that extended well beyond a handful of ceilidh tunes (much to the dancers’ relief!) and just a little more experience under our belts.
Cameron kindly invited us to play at the Strathclyde Students’ Union and lead a ceilidh for a group of postgraduate research students. There were plenty of international students and first-time ceilidh dancers in attendance - always an enthusiastic crowd - and this group was no exception. In fact, they were having to dash into other parts of the Union to recruit extra dancers for the sets because nobody wanted to stay seated!
It was a fantastic night and an absolute pleasure to introduce so many people to a bit of Scottish culture.
Thanks again for having us - we had a great time!
